Obituary of Richard Baker

Richard Baker, a respected and venerable gentleman, completed his earthly journey on March 5, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on September 14, 1937, in Lamar, Colorado, he lived a life marked by dignity, service, and a commitment to the values he held dear. A veteran of the United States Navy, Richard served his country with honor and distinction. His steadfast dedication to duty mirrored the deep sense of responsibility he carried in all aspects of his life.

He is survived by his siblings, Roy L. Baker and Ann Homer of Utah, who along with the rest of his family, remember him with profound admiration. His legacy includes his stepchildren, Frances J. Bell and Jean C. Adkison of Goose Creek, and Jimmy A. Sauls of West Ashley. As a grandfather, Richard gave his love and kindness to Tammie L. Gambrell (Brian), Crystal Storrs, Ann Jones (Kevin), and Donna Jean Sauls, as well as to his great-grandchildren, Christopher J. Peets, Brent T. Peets, Jessica King (Ryan), and Amanda N. Townsend (Tyler), and his five great-great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his cherished wife, Frances M. Baker, Richard now joins her in eternal rest, leaving behind a family grateful for his life and example.

A graveside service will be held to honor Richard's memory at Beaufort Military Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with the solemn respect due to a man of his stature.

In mourning his passing, we also celebrate the enduring impact of his life. May Richard Baker rest in peace, his memory a beacon of the integrity and strength he so effortlessly embodied.
