Randle Quimby

Obituary of Randle McArthur Quimby

Randle McArthur Quimby, better known to all as Randy, was born in Mobile, AL on May 7, 1951 and passed on April 2nd, 2024. He served his country for the entirety of his working career. After 4 years of service in the Navy he began working for the Officer’s Club system on various Naval bases before moving on to leadership for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation side of operations. Our Dad literally took care of troops all over the world.  After over 40 years in Civil Service he retired in Charleston, SC to be closer to his children. He spent his remaining years surrounded by his loved ones, especially those little grandbabies he loved so much.

Randy Mac, as he was often fondly called, loved his family—every one of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hybart and Leila Quimby. He is survived by his wife Teresa Donehue Quimby; his 2 children, Palmer (Misty) Quimby and Kathleen (Patrick) Singleton; his 2 grandchildren, Shepard Singleton and Sadie Singleton; and all 5 of his siblings, including 3 brothers, Reggie (Karen) Quimby, Ricky (Deborah) Quimby, Russell (Stacy) Quimby, and 2 sisters, Brenda (Ken) Haynes, and Becky Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.

Our father truly was our hero and someone we began to look up to as we were becoming young adults. What he instilled in us as children is something that we love about ourselves—something that makes us who we are—and we will forever be grateful for that.

Dad’s hard work and determination, which led him to provide for and take care of his family, while helping Terry raise 2 kids and become a part of each of their lives, is something that can only be described as selfless. We are forever grateful for the love and passion he gave to us. We didn’t always deserve it, but he never wavered once. He will smile down upon us from here on out.

Don’t be sad he’s no longer with us, but celebrate his life and say, “Thank you.”

A private family burial, with military honors, will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Friday, April 12, at 1400 hours.
