Obituary of Oran Swindell Baldwin Jr.

ORAN S. BALWIN JR

Oran Swindell Baldwin Jr, age 64, of Charleston SC, passed away on December 14, 2020 in Ridgeville, SC.

A memorial service will be at 2234 Plainview Rd, 1pm on December 19,at Church Creek Presbyterian with John Olson officiating. Please also add that the memorial service will be streamed online for those that are unable to attend. Oran was born in Rock Hill SC to Oran Swindell Baldwin and Emily Morrison Baldwin on February 10, 1956. He attended school in McClellanville, SC and Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Myers Park High School, Charlotte, in 1974 and obtained his BS from the College of Charleston in 1979. Oran was employed for three years as shrimp boat crew member out of McClellanville SC. He also spent seven years as a floor manager at the Gourmetisserie food court in Charleston. He worked in lubricant production for about twelve years, and at XPO Logistics for about five years.

Oran was a member of Church Creek Presbyterian Church since 1982, where he served as a deacon for the past nine years. He was a member of the National Speleological Society since 1992. Oran loved golf, cave exploring, mathematics, and good literature.

Oran is preceded in death by his father, Oran Swindell Baldwin, and his brother James Hampton Baldwin. He is survived by his wife Sara Heller Baldwin and his children Oran Swindell III, Mary Elizabeth, and John Christopher Baldwin. He is also survived by his mother Emily Morrison Baldwin, and his brothers David Howard Baldwin and Richard Morrison Baldwin.
