Obituary of Edward Courtright

Edward Leroy Courtright, 78, of Eutawville, SC died on August 25, 2018.  He was born in Anna, Illinois on January 30, 1940 to the late Edward Frank Courtright and Janita Woolsey Perry.  Ed loved the lake, fishing, and woodworking, especially building bird houses.  He and his loyal sidekick, Baxter loved riding around the lake on his golf cart.  Baxter was his body guard and stuck by his master to the end.  Ed also loved to eat. We had weekly fish fries with the “Connor Drive Gang”.  His loyal friends Bob and Mary Jo Rutherford, Tom and Hazel Keels, Don Crews, Wayde Goresline, and Joyce Blitch all helped care for him until the end.

Ed is survived by his wife, Claudia Courtright; two sons, Eddie Courtright (Deb) of Willington, CT and Michael Courtright of TX; two brothers, Larry Don Courtright (Ruby) of Clinton, ME and Dennis Eugene Courtright (Edie) of Summerville; one grandson, Shane Courtright; three step-daughters and two step-sons that he loved as his own; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and owned Hoods and Houses of Charleston.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Eutawville.  He was baptized on January 14, 2018 at the age of 78.  A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Eutawville on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00am.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First Baptist Eutawville Building Fund, PO Box 484, Eutawville, SC  29048 or the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, N. Charleston, SC  29486.
