Obituary of Waltraud Emma Burkard

Waltraud “Wally” Burkard of Camden passed away on July 3 at MUSC in Charleston after a brief struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Heinz of 51 years, her son Henry of Jacksonville, FL, and her daughter Monica Sheorn, son-in-law Mark, grandson Chance and granddaughter McCall, all of Camden. Wally was born 03/22/41 in Schweinfurt, Germany to Ludwig and Hedwig Seufert. Her very close sister Annemarie passed away of cancer 20 years ago and is survived by her husband Robert Katzenberger. Wally immigrated to the US in 1961. She retired from Novartis Animal Health located in Greensboro, NC in 1996. Wally loved her family and put everyone’s needs before her own. She enjoyed animals, particularly caring for her Cockapoo Louie and daughter’s Maltese Elle. No funeral will be conducted in accordance with her wishes. Wally was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to any of the following: (1) American Cancer Society; (2) The Humane Society of the US; (3) MUSC Dog Therapy Program (www.musckids.org)
