William Simmerly

Obituary of William Thomas Simmerly

Sometimes we don’t realize how great the ones who walk among us are until they are gone. One was William Thomas Simmerly Jr. (aka Mr. Bill). Born December 30, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri. Departed June 23, 2015 at a local nursing home. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and settled in North Charleston where he lived for over 40 years. He served his community through his many years of work at southern bell and a volunteer who cared for and rescued animals. He was an avid animal rights activist. In spite of his love for Ford’s and Harley Davidsons, he was a soft spoken, gentle man always ready to help anyone. He will be remembered by his family, friends, and neighbors for the impact he made on their lives. He is survived by his adopted family, Joe and Rosie Wright of North Charleston, Suzie of Summerville and Roxie of Charleston as well as Lucy Liu his faithful shar pei mix. His sisters, Constance Hunt of Missouri and Juanita Daschka of Illinois and great niece Alexis of Missouri also survive him. A private service will be held at 3PM Friday, June 26, 2015 at Simplicity Funeral Home in North Charleston. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal shelter or animal rescue organization. Mr. Bill will be missed!
