Obituary of William David Chavis

William (Bill) Chavis left this earth late on Tuesday to take his place in paradise. He leaves behind his wife, Karen Wohlgemuth Chavis, his sister Barbara VandeKuyl (Dennis) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a daughter Beth Chavis (AJ Governale) of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter Cheryl Shoemaker of Warner Robbins, GA; a son David Chavis of Macon, Georgia; a step-daughter Dawn Wohlgemuth (Karl) of Hanahan, SC, and four fabulous grandsons (Dillon, Mason, Charles and Benjamin) who were all the apple of his eye as well as several nieces and their families. He will be missed by his family and a host of life long friends and co-workers. The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice, especially Evelyn and Taryn, for their care and concern during his brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston. All are asked to wear a University of Georgia shirt or red and black in honor of Bill’s loyalty to his Georgia football team.
