Obituary of Donald Barton

Donald F Barton, age 60, lost his battle with head and neck cancer on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at his cozy home of 15 yrs in Goose Creek, SC.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born February, 9th, 1958 in Boston Massachusetts, to Everett and the late Jaqueline (Barter) Barton.  He was a brother to Sharon (Deceased), Ron, Tommy, David, Paul, Susan (Dyer) and Eddie. Don was married to his loving wife of 34 years as of August 6th, Roxanne (Bateman).  He was very proud of his children, Shane, Mahgan, and Mariah. He was a grandfather to two boys, Brayden and Mason. He also had a few nieces and nephews.

Don lived in New Hampshire prior to moving to South Carolina. There he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, raising his son, and being with family. In 1977 he graduated from Somersworth High school with a diploma. In 1989 he married his beautiful wife Roxanne who Later on became his faithful caregiver. Then the Barton boys decided to pack up and move down to SC after hurricane Hugo for the work. While in South Carolina, he worked for a lengthy amount of time for the family owned business, Barton Painting until he couldn’t anymore. Donald loved to paint, build stuff with wood, and fix things(he was a perfectionist), he could fix anything, he loved cars,  he was an avid outdoorsman, planted  a garden often and took pride in it, loved the movie Top Gun, cherished making memories with his loved ones, enjoyed cooking for his family (he loved to cook!), making anyone who crossed his path laugh, had a ball while singing and dancing, and was very fond of Budweiser (Cheers!) He used to turn his ear piece off when he Was done with a conversation. He’d say “I’m out! Peace!” (LOL) To make the kids laugh he would catch the lizards outside and make them hang from his ears like earrings. One thing he wasn’t fond of was hanging Christmas lights, but afterward admired the way his creativity turned out.

Don was always in good spirits. Never letting the cancer change his attitude towards life. He was very strong willed, extremely tough and didn’t want to give up the fight (#BartonStrong). Don loved making new friends wherever he went, once you met him you couldn’t forget him. He offered a help and hand to anyone. He was a hard worker but loved to play even harder. He was always content to be at home with his family and pets. He really did enjoy the simple pleasures of life, good food, drinks, friends and family.

Don was a loving husband, father, son, brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Friend who will be greatly missed. He will always be very loved by his family and friends and never ever forgotten. We Hated to see him go but are grateful he isn’t in pain anymore. Funeral services will be at Simplicity Funeral Home in Ladson, S.C. on Friday, October 26th at 2pm-3pm. Thank you to everyone for your support.
