Obituary of Pamela Michelle Snider

Our beautiful wife and mother, Pamela Michelle Snider, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, departed this world in Charleston, South Carolina on January 16th, 2019 following a brief illness.

Pamela was born in Downey, California on December 10th, 1971 and was the first daughter of three born to Dennis and Carol Brodersen. Pamela and her sisters, Lysa and Jennifer, were raised as Christians in the nurture and admonishment of the lord.  When Pam was 6, the family moved to Tecumseh, Oklahoma where she attended Bethel Public Schools in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma until her high school graduation. She was very close to her family and sisters and remained as such until her passing.

Pamela and her family attended Lakeview church of Christ in Bethel Acres which is where I first met her at an early age.  It was at the age of 15 when she casually invited me to attend a Christmas party at her school where we began our courtship.  We attended different schools so our relationship revolved around church, phone calls, and the occasional date which required our parents to chauffeur since neither of us were old enough to drive.

While Pamela and I were only four months apart in age, she was one grade behind me in school. After graduation, I attended Oklahoma State University while Pamela was finishing her senior year of high school so our distance relationship continued. After her high school graduation, Pamela chose to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education at East Central University which was the opposite direction from OSU so we would meet back home on weekends in order to date and just be together.  We would spend hours talking as our relationship flourished.  After graduation from college, I found a job in our hometown while Pamela was finishing her degree.  She graduated from ECU in May of 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

On August 6th, 1994, we were wedded and began our life of marriage together.  Pamela got a job teaching kindergarten at her alma mater, Bethel Public Schools and I continued working different jobs in the Shawnee, Oklahoma area.

Our first child, Ian Christopher Snider, was born on July 2nd 1996 and was the first grandson of both Dennis and Carol Brodersen as well as my parents, Mike and Judy Snider.

We continued living in Shawnee until we moved to Medina, Ohio in 1999 due to my job opportunity.  Pamela found a job at a school in Cleveland where she taught for several years.

On January 16th, 2002, our second child, Elizabeth Christine Snider was born and was the first granddaughter of Dennis and Carol.

During our time in Northeastern Ohio, Pamela pursued and obtained a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Kent State University.  Very soon after completing her degree, she was recruited by Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina so in July of 2005, we moved our family to Moncks Corner where we both were employed by Berkeley County School District.

Pamela had admirable inner strength.  In 2009, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, however, she faced it with determination and fortitude. Even after requiring a power wheelchair and leaving teaching due to her disability, she still had her usual pleasant demeanor and positive attitude.  I was continually awed by her as she endured the various unsuccessful treatments and infusions to slow the progression of the disease. Her strength and determination was a continual source of inspiration for me and others who knew her.

Pamela was the epitome of gentleness, compassion, contentment, and love. Her humble nature was evident immediately upon meeting her.  The calming effect of her gentle spirit helped bring a certain serenity to our home. As a teacher, she genuinely cared about her students and showed extreme compassion even in the most difficult of circumstances. She was content regardless of what we had or didn’t have. She didn’t care about worldly wealth or possessions for she knows her treasure is in heaven. She loved God, her husband, her children, her family, and her fellow man unwaveringly.

Pamela is survived by her husband Blake, children Ian and Elizabeth, parents, Dennis and Carol Brodersen, sister Lysa Park and her boys Eric and Adam, sister Jennifer Sharp with husband Brandon, daughter Mallory, and son Cash, Mother and Father-in-law Mike and Judy Snider, Brother and Sister-in-law Greg and Kara Snider with their children Kayci and Grayson, as well as many other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pamela, you were my wife, life partner, confidant, and best friend. I will always love you. Until we are together again, your devoted and loving husband, Blake.
