Louretha White

Obituary of Louretha White

Written with love by her children….

Mama was one of five children born to Carrie Stewart Scott and John Scott Sr on March 31, 1952 in Meggett, South Carolina. She received her high school diploma from Baptist Hill High School in 1970. At 20 years of age she had her first child, Yolanda (Linda); four years later, she gave birth to her second daughter, Tamika (Mika). For some time after that she took care of her grandmother, Essie Robinson until she went home to be with the Lord. When she was 31 years of age she gave birth to her first son, Roland (Maurice). Her second son, Grayland, was born seven years later. Our mother found joy in working with children at Midland Park Elementary (Midland Park Primary) in Charleston, S.C. She retired from the Charleston County School system after 20+ years. As adults we loved coming home to warm hugs, hot food, conversation, laughter and the tv show, Little House on the Prairie. (No matter the year) If you knew our mother, you would know not to call between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. That time frame was set aside for The Talk and The Steve Harvey Show….LOL. We loved our mother very much and she loved us. She was always there to help with her grandchildren or give an encouraging word. Even though she may not have shown it, she was our biggest cheerleader.

Ms. Louretha Scott White will forever be remembered and cherished by her children: Yolanda(Mario)Jones of Suffolk, Va; Tamika Pringle of Columbia, SC; Roland(Tiffany) Murdock of Eastman, Ga; Grayland Murdock of Ladson, SC; Sisters: Anna Lee(Leroy) Wittrell of Johns Island, SC; Beulah Scott of Lexington, SC; Essie Mae(James) Rutledge of Walterboro, SC; Gail Scott of Hollywood, SC; Bonnie(William) Smith of Hollywood, SC; Brothers: Johnnie(Lynn) Scott Jr of Charleston, SC; MC(Debbie) Wright of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law Marcia Brown of Hephzibah, Ga; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a host of relatives and friend.

Mama, you will be forever loved and missed!  You will forever be in our hearts and minds. Glory to God for the things HE has done!
