Obituary of Adrian Alexander Molinaroli

CHARLESTON – Adrian Alexander Molinaroli, 87, of Charleston, SC, husband of Carol Swinburne, entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 12, 2015 at his home. A funeral mass will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Rev. S. Thomas Kingsley presiding. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Nativity. Arrangements by Simplicity Lowcountry. Adrian was born November 10, 1927 in Starr, NC, son of the late Alessandro Molinaroli of St. Ambrosia, Italy, and Rachele Frontini Molinaroli, of Angera, Italy. The family resided most of his young life in Columbia, SC, and he graduated with a BSCE from the University of South Carolina in 1951, after serving 2 years in the US Navy. He was a licensed civil engineer and served as the ROICC resident engineer for Navy and Air Force construction in SC at the Charleston Navy Yard, where he retired from civil service (1964- 1986). He was affectionately known by his co-workers as “Big A”. He went on to work as an engineer managing construction of MUSC Children’s Hospital and Patriot’s Point hotel. His last and most enjoyable engineering project was supervising construction of the James Island Connector. Adrian was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church for over 50 years, and will be remembered for his devout faith, dedication and support of the church and its activities over the years, as well as his love for his family and friends. He gave of himself generously and unconditionally. He is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Eleanor Lively Molinaroli, one brother, Remo, and two sisters, Carmen and Ada. He is survived by his wife; three sons: Alex Molinaroli (Patsy) of Brookfield, VI; Carl Molinaroli (Wendy) of Charleston, SC; Ray “Mond” Molinaroli (Mary) of Summerville, SC; three stepdaughters: Erika Swinburne of Irving, TX; Bianca Swinburne (James) of Dripping Springs, TX; Rory Brodie (Thomas) of Charleston, SC; one stepson: Noel Swinburne (Marie) of Asheville, NC; ten grandchildren: John Shealey of West Palm Beach, FL; Rachael Klicka (Steven) of Tigard, OR; Adrian Molinaroli of Brookfield, WI; Reid and Morgan Molinaroli of Charleston, SC; Capers and Carson Molinaroli of Summerville, SC; Kalindi Whitworth of Dripping Springs, TX; Jewel and Oliver Brodie of Charleston, SC; and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
