I was one of Walt’s tenants for about ten years at 1410 Shirley. His family embraced me as part of their family and I could never repay them for their generosity. Walt was a master at balancing work, family, friends and pleasure. We had some great times and I learned many life lessons while there. He truly was one of America’s finest and I’ll miss him as a dear friend and his service to keep South Carolina a safer place to live. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to his family...”my family”.

Dear Powell family,
I just learned of Walter”s passing today. I am sorry I was not able to be there last Sunday. Walter’s parents “Babe” and Sue were dear friends of my late Grandparents, Raymon Sr. and Maxcy Finch, Walter was a very good friend of my late Dad Michael T. Finch Sr., and Walter G. Jr. and I were friends as young boys, so our families have many memories and times shared together, from Dixiana to Sullivan’s Island and Wild Dunes. Walter’s was a life well lived in service to others. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Peace be with you all, and
God Bless,
Mike Finch Jr., MD
