Obituary of James Richard Rawlings

James (Jim) Richard Rawlings, 64, of Charleston, passed away on February 24, 2015 in his home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 27 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services Inc, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, Suite E, North Charleston, SC. Jim was born in Charleston on March 23, 1950, a son of Alice Virginia Rawlings and Eugene Alvin Rawlings, Sr. Jim served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician by trade and worked as an instrument technician for Kapstone Paper Mill for 23 years. He enjoyed genealogy, fishing, and playing the guitar. He was actively involved in coaching little league football for many years for Saint Andrews Parks and Playground and was recognized several times as coach of the year. Jim is survived by his children, Jami Rawlings Shorter, Jonathan Richard Rawlings (Susan), and David Michael Rawlings; grandchildren, Katherine Paige Rawlings, Alyssa Shiann Hutson, and Chase David Rawlings; and siblings, Jan Sedalik (Terry), Eugene Rawlings, Jr., Mike Rawlings, and Mark Rawlings.
