Obituary of Dean Backstrom

Dr. Dean Backstrom passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was a resident of Seabrook Island, SC. Dr Backstrom, a physician, was 67 years old. He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore Md, in 1975, and did his residency at Dartmouth Medical Center in New Hampshire. He served as a Medical Director in multiple hospitals, as well as having his private practice in Florida for many years. His career spanned over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, son Jordan, stepson Derek, daughters-in-law Hayley and Misty, and grandchildren Kilia, Ava, Rowan and Alexander. Surviving relatives also include a brother, John, sister-in-law Grace and niece Sarah. Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, North Charleston, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, where Dr Backstrom had done consulting.
