Obituary of Sara Jane Verdolini

Sara Jane Verdolini, age 84, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away January 18, with her family by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born to the late Helen Mae Newcombe Kier and Joseph Repp Kier, on January 27, 1930 in Pitman, NJ. Sara Jane married the late Vincent James Verdolini, Jr in 1950. After moving throughout the US with her husband’s career at DuPont, they happily settled in Mt Pleasant, SC in 1975. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bernice Burgess and Helen Nina Kier and her brother, William Kier. Memorial service will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11 am at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Sullivans Island. Sara was a loving, nurturing mother and grandmother, long-time volunteer for hospitals and Red Cross, avid reader and “fresh air” enthusiast. She particularly enjoyed her church and singing in the choir. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children: Vincent James Verdolini, III (Lucille), of Boise, ID; Michael Ralph Verdolini, of Charleston; Susan Verdolini-Sheats (James) of Arlington, VA; and Sally Jane Verdolini of Mt. Pleasant, as well as her surviving two grandchildren: James Michael Sheats and Steven Zachary Sheats of Arlington, VA.
