Obituary of Lurleen Weeks

Lurleen Weeks, 105, of St. George, South Carolina, passed away on January 18, 2015. The memorial service will be held on January 28, 2015, 1:30pm, in the Dining Hall of Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center located at 920 Travelers Boulevard, Summerville, SC, 29483. Burial will be private. Lurleen was born in Grover, SC on February 3, 1909 to Thomas Westbury Weeks and Elizabeth Patrick Weeks. Lurleen graduated from St. George High School and soon married Hayward Weeks. She worked as a seamstress, baker, hardware store clerk, grocery store clerk and for the dry cleaner down the street from her house. She was an excellent caregiver to anyone in need and created the most amazing quilts. Lurleen attended Memorial Baptist Church in St George, South Carolina where she was an active member for eight decades. Lurleen is survived by her daughter, Dora Elizabeth Semken, her two grandsons, Billy and Michael, five great grandchildren Donna (Marc), Christina (Martin), Amy and Brian (Michelle), Jill and four great great grandchildren Trevor, Wylen, Tess and Ellison. Lurleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents and seven siblings including her twin sister, Kathleen. The family would like to thank all of Lurleen’s caregivers throughout her final years.
