Obituary of Betty Hendricks

Betty Dunne Hendricks, wife of the late William I. Hendricks, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 17, 2018, at Laurel Bay Healthcare of Williston, SC. Betty was born on May 25, 1930 in Wilmington, Delaware, daughter of the late Margaret Anne (Morris) Dunne and John Patrick Dunne. She served as bookkeeper for St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Charleston, SC for over 20 years before retiring in 1999. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, John Patrick “Buddy” Dunne, Jr. and her daughter, Julianne Hendricks Lee. Betty is survived by her sister, Judith Dunne Lucas, and four children: Christopher Hendricks (Adele); Jeanne Hendricks Clinton (Jerry); Joanne Hendricks Root (Bruce); and Catherine Hendricks Smith (Tim); six granddaughters: Angela Hendricks Grimes (Tristan); Michelle Hendricks; Lindsey Lee; Morgan Root; Maggie Smith; and Li Clinton; seven grandsons: Warren Lee, Jr.; Zachary Smith; Matthew Root; David Hendricks; Daniel Smith; Michael Root; and Kevin Clinton; and two great-granddaughters: Anabelle and Ella Grimes. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 89 Hasell Street, Charleston. A brief reception following Mass will be held in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd. Charleston, SC 29407.
