Obituary of John Wesley Carraway

John Wesley Carraway, 74, of Hanahan, SC, passed away on September 24, 2014 after a three year battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Friday, September 26, 2014 Hillcrest Baptist Church (3595 Ashley Phosphate Rd, North Charleston, SC 29418). Funeral Services celebrating his life will follow on Saturday at 11AM at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. John was born in Florence, SC on May 1, 1940, a son of Foster and Inez Carraway. He was a skilled carpenter and former owner of Topsider Social Club. He was an avid fisherman. John is survived by his wife of 30+ years, Carol Carraway; sons, Felton (Melinda) Carraway, Gary (Faith) Carraway, and Kevin Carraway; daughters, Wanda (Jimmy) Williams, and Cindy (Philip) Palenkas; Stepsons, Bob (Anne) Percy, Gary Percy, and James Percy; Stepdaughter, Vickie Percy; brother, Alton Carraway of Bishopville, SC; sister, Liz Simmons of Gaston, SC; 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, North Charleston.
