Obituary of Julia Peterkin Tecklenburg

Julia Peterkin Tecklenburg, 57 of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on June 15, 2014. Julia was born to William George Peterkin, III and the late Helen Inabinet Peterkin, April 3, 1956, in Honololu, HI. She grew up in Ft. Motte, SC and graduated from St. Mary’s Episcopal High School in Raleigh, NC. Julia received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College in Columbia, SC in 1986. Julia was most recently an environmental Human Resources Consultant. She has also served as the Director of Human Resources for York Place Episcopal Church Home for Children in York, SC and Charter Rivers Behavioral Health in West Columbia, SC. She was a loving mother who enjoyed creating memorable celebrations of Christmas for her children, cooking old-fashioned southern recipes and reading on her porch. Julia is survived by her daughter, Helen Tecklenburg Gregory and husband Drew of Atlanta, GA and her son, Chris Tecklenburg and wife Kim of Pleasant View, TN. She is also survived by her father, William George Peterkin, III, sisters Amy and Emily Peterkin and brother Willy Peterkin of Ft. Motte, SC, along with her sister Laura Peterkin Wigger of Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in her name be made to the Hollings Cancer Center MUSC Foundation18 Bee Street, MSC450 Charleston, SC 29425. A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday June 19, 2014 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, Inc. 7475 Peppermill Parkway North Charleston, SC 29418.
