Obituary of Gerald Anderson Blanton

Gerald “Gerry” Anderson Blanton Sr., 72, of Charleston, SC, husband of Nancy Jennings Blanton, died Sunday, December 31, 2017. Gerry was born in Rome, Ga on December 19, 1945 to the late Burton Anderson and Marjorie Winter Blanton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Alexander Blanton. Gerry attended Clemson University before coming home to work in and eventually take over the family business, Charleston Paint Company. He worked in the paint business for over 55 years, finishing his paint career with Spectrum Paint Company. He was a die-hard Clemson fan and an avid fisherman. He loved being out on the water fishing and shrimping. Gerry was a loving, family man. He enjoyed trips to the mountains with his wife, was always there for advice when his children needed it and enjoyed evening summertime swims with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy J. Blanton; two children, son, Andy Blanton (April) and daughter, Jennifer Bates (Alan); as well as three grandchildren, Mason, Brady and Parker. The relatives and friends of Mr. Blanton are invited to attend his funeral service Friday, January 5 at 5:00 pm at Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29418. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charleston Animal Society or the American Heart Association.
