Obituary of Heyward Lee Siddons

“Heyward Lee Siddons, a resident of Charleston, SC since 1995, went home to the Lord and died peacefully at his home after a short illness on April 8th, 2014. He was born in Washington, DC on July 9th, 1925 to Annalee Hagerman Siddons and Frederick P.H. Siddons. His grandfather Judge Siddons was a Federal judge who jointly presided over the Tea Pot Dome case in the early 1920’s. His father was Vice President at the American Securities and Trust in Washington. Heyward graduated from St. Albans School in Washington DC and served his country honorably as an navigator on B-29’s for the Army Air Corp in World War II. He attended Princeton University where he was a member of the Colonial Club and graduated in 1948. He had a successful career in journalism and advertising in Denver, Colorado and Atlanta , Georgia. He married novelist Anne Rivers Siddons in 1996 in Atlanta where they lived until moving to Charleston ,SC in 1995. In Charleston after retiring, Heyward served for many years as the head of the Carolina Cleft Lip & Palate Board. He was instrumental in guiding the research and clinic management teams to modernize with computer technology. His charming nature always set a professional standard. His efforts helped many children . Besides his wife, Heyward is survived by four sons from his first wife, Nancy Williams Siddons. They (and their families) are Lee Siddons, Kem Siddons, his wife Carol , their son Stuart and daughter Kelby. Rick Siddons, his wife Julie and their daughter Maggie. David Siddons and his wife Tracy Siddons. Heyward’s sharp mind and keen wit endeared him to a large circle of work colleagues, relatives and friends. Heyward was always young at heart and displayed a gentle spirit that impressed everyone he met. He was a friend to all. Those qualities along with many other gifts and talents made him the valuable man that he was. He will be missed.” Arrangements by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services
