Obituary of Mechelle King

Mechelle Scott Varn King, 52, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 after a long illness, surrounded by her family in her Mount Pleasant, South Carolina home. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina. A graduate of Camden High School, Camden, South Carolina, she recently retired from Curd Enterprises, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, after thirty-one years of service. She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Paul Bradly King of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, her parents, James Dowman and Patricia Scaffe Varn of Camden, South Carolina, and her brother, Dowman Parks Varn of Davis, California. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 20th, at 11:00 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with a reception to immediately follow. Interment will take place at 3:30 pm at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 6079 Confederate Highway, Ehrhardt, South Carolina 29081. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or the Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 3350 Riverwood Parkway, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30339 may be made in her name. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, North Charleston location.
