Obituary of Maggie Frazier

Maggie Frazier, 98, passed away peacefully from this life at her daughter’s home in North Charleston, SC on Thursday, May 2, 2019 after a prolonged illness. 

She was born on Thursday, March 24, 1921 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Arthur and Ella Lee (Baxter) Shuler. She was the second born and the eldest daughter of eight children.

Maggie was reared and received her formal education in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  In her early 20’s, she moved to Charleston, SC and this is where she met Solomon " Saul" Frazier.  On May 2, 1946, Maggie and Solomon were married.  In pursuit for a better opportunities for herself and her family, Maggie moved to New York City in the late 1950’s and worked in domestic services.  Maggie resided in the Bronx, NY where she was very active in her community.  She was active member of her tenant association; involved in community and civic activities at her local Bronx Senior Center and worked for the New York State Board of Elections.  Maggie lived a bountiful life for over fifty years in the Bronx, NY before returning to South Carolina.

Her interests included crocheting, sewing, arts and craft, puzzles and reading.  Family was Maggie’s first love and she devoted much of her time and energy as caregiver to her family members and friends.

Maggie left an incredible imprint on the hearts of anyone who encountered her, for a minute or for a lifetime with her generous, caring nature. We will always be grateful and treasure the precious moments we shared, they will live on in our hearts forever.

Maggie was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Shuler; mother, Ella Lee (Baxter) Shuler;  four brother,  Arthur Shuler,  Owen “OW” Shuler, James Shuler, and Samuel Shuler; three sisters, Beatrice Shuler, Laura Mae Elliot, and Wilhemenia Stephens; two sons, Samuel Frazier and Clarence Frazier; two daughters, Rose Frazier and Diane Frazier; and two grandson Oscar “Butch” Shuler and Lavar Winns

She leaves to remember her with love and cherish her precious memory two daughters Margret Dale (Arthur) and Janie Weston (Gerald); one son: Louis Starr III (Kim); Son in-law, Sylvester Winns; Daughter in-law, Valerye Frazier; twelve grandchildren: Sharonda Frazier, Arthur “Shawn” Shuler, Lamont Winns, Tasha Sansculotte, Mohagany Frazier, Tyshawn Norris, Louis Frazier, Christopher Starr, Andres Starr, Felyce Starr, Amanda Starr and Deanna Starr. Twenty-two great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
