Obituary of Vivian Patricia Dockens

Vivian Patricia Dockens (Pat) Wife of Edward D Dockens, passed away, Sunday March 31, 2013 at home surrounded by her family, after a long, brave battle with diabetes and renal disease. Pat was borne October 6th, 1944, in Brewton Alabama to the late James D. Barnes Sr. and Lillie McDaniel Barnes Cochran. Growing up in Pensacola Florida, she was a graduate of Pensacola Technical High School where she earned a certification in cosmetology. A lady of many talents, Pat moved, with her husband, to Charleston South Carolina in 1965. She became a homemaker and mother. She delivered papers for the Post and Courier for many years. Pat also attended Trident Technical College to become a florist and wedding planner and opened Flowers by Pat Dockens in Downtown Summerville. After retirement, in addition to enjoying her family, her pets, and traveling, Pat also operated an internet radio station, Dixc Internet Radio (http://www.dixcinternetradio.org/), which broadcast around the world every Saturday night. She was known as Southerneyes_SC. She was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. She will be deeply missed by Husband Edward D. Dockens of Summerville, Daughter Patti Dockens (David Wright) of Moncks Corner, Brother James D. Barnes Jr. (Sarah) of Eutawville, many nieces, nephews, her little dog Pretty Gurl, and numerous friends from around the world. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her parents and Stepfather William H. Cochran. A sunset memorial service will be held at the Folly Beach Pier on Monday, April 8th, at 7:00pm. Pat has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Doc Willis SPCA, P.O. Box 565 Goose Creek SC 29445 or to a charity of your choice.
