Lynn Menges

Obituary of Lynn Menges

On Thursday, November 21, 2019, Lynn Anne Menges (nee Fisher) of Hannan, SC entered eternal rest.

Lynn was born on November 8, 1956 to Thomas and Margaret Parr Fisher in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. She was raised in a military family, until her father retired and settled in Hanahan, SC.  Upon completing high school, she attended Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC and graduated with a degree in education with an emphasis in biology.

After college, Lynn remained in Charlotte where she worked for Rollins Protective Services, an engineering firm, and eventually started her career with Honeywell.  While there, she met her former husband, Jim Menges.  Later they relocated to the Washington DC area and eventually built a home in Fredrickson, VA where they resided for approximately nine years. After she left Honeywell, she moved to North Charleston, SC to be closer to family. In 2007, she made the decision to return to her teenage home in Hanahan to take care of her father who preceded her in death.

Lynn was the epitome of what it meant to live, laugh and love!  She was known as the entertainer and often hosted game day events and gathering.  She often talked fondly of her days at Farrington Apartments in North Charleston where she helped create a community with her neighbors. She was a fan of the Steelers and Jimmy Johnson (and anything NASCAR); and she enjoyed the arts and often attended Spoleto Events, musicals and concerts of many of her favorite performers (Prince, KISS and Cher).  She had a huge laugh that would resonate through a crowd and she loved her friends and family dearly.  Although, she did not have children of her own she was fond of her Godson, Robby Davis; and her cat children—Floppsy and Moppsy.  Lynn believed in giving flowers to people while they were alive and often sent pizzas or sub sandwiches to the local fire department, police officers and postal workers; contributed to many charities; and did kind deeds for those she loved.

Lynn left behind an aunt and cousins in Philadephia, PA; her godson, Robby Davis; a brother, Michael Fisher; and numerous friends.  A celebration of life will be held on January 11, 2020 at 3:00 pm at her Hanahan residence, followed by inurement in Philadephia, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her cats.
