Obituary of Audrey Harris

Audrey Ann Harris of North Charleston, formerly of Medina, New York, entered gracefully into Heaven on the evening of December 6, 2019. Audrey was born on Thanksgiving day, November 26, 1936 in Batavia, New York. She was the child of Clyde Hamilton and Sophie (Szymanski) Beechler. She married Leighton D. Harris on June 16, 1956. They had 4 children and lived in Medina for 37 years before his untimely death in 1993. Subsequently, Audrey moved to Charleston in 1996 & met her second husband and Life Partner, Steve Padgett, in 1998. They were together constantly & she loved hearing him sing & play guitar, and bass in bands. They shared their mutual love of music and dancing many times over the years.

 

Audrey loved her family with her whole heart. She was truly dedicated to everyone in her life and kept up with their goings on. She enjoyed caring for her cats, Mallory and Twyla. Her passion was decorating and the beginning of each new season would be celebrated by Audrey bringing out the New Season’s colors & decorations.

 

Audrey is survived by her four children Gary (Debbie) Harris of Madison, WI, Brenda (William) Haacker of New Bern, N.C., Michele Harris of Hanahan, S.C., and Melissa (Robert Jr.) West of Lockport, N.Y. Her loving, loyal, and faithful companion of 17 years, Steve Padgett of North Charleston, S.C., her 8 grandchildren; Alecia and Brian Moore, Sondra Rodriguez, Courtney West, Tyler West, Tennille West, Robert West, III, Dylan West, and 11 great grandchildren. 

 

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Leighton Harris, her loving grandson Trevor Morphet, and her sisters Mildred Beales and Loretta Gower.  

Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services in North Charleston. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Pm on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Advent Lutheran Church located at 3347 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, S.C. Memorial donations may be made to Advent Lutheran Church or your local SPCA.
