Obituary of Laura Carolyn Thompson

Laura Carolyn Thompson, 67, of Easley, SC, passed away on July 17, 2016. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Easley, SC. A receiving of family and friends will be held following the memorial service at Mt. Airy Baptist Church Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mt. Airy Baptist Building Fund, 210 Mt. Airy Church Road, Easley, South Carolina. Carolyn was born in Greenville, SC on December 13, 1948, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Spearman. She graduated from Wren High School in 1967 where she was on the State Championship basketball team. Carolyn worked as a Business Coordinator for Greenville Health System for 39 years. She enjoyed reading, camping, and being with her family. She was also actively involved in her church, her Sunday School class, and her church’s Nancy Coker Circle. She also loved to support the Wren Golden Hurricanes. Carolyn is survived by husband, Randall; sons, Randy (Ginger) and David (Krista); four grandchildren (Raegan, Taylor, Pearce, and Kal); brother, Charles Spearman (late Jerry); sisters, Mary Jo O’Shields (Rod), Joyce Cox (Frank), and Lou Sutherland (Ken); Sisters-in-law, Gail Counts (Jim), Helen Orr (late Carroll) and Peggy Thompson (late Hoyt). Carolyn is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clyde and Mary Spearman and her brother, David Clyde Spearman, Jr. Family is gathered at the family home.
