Obituary of Betty Jo Burgsteiner

Betty Jo Burgsteiner, 84, of Goose Creek, SC entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, March 1st, 2020, peacefully at home.  She is predeceased by her husband, Edward H. (Sonny) Burgsteiner, her mother and father, two brothers, three sisters, and many wonderful friends that she has touched throughout the years.  

Betty Jo was born in Savannah, Georgia on 1 October 1935, the daughter of Millard Levi Lynn and Lily Maude Riner Lynn.  She was a loving housewife of a retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer who was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, a Mason, and a retired Naval Station Police Lieutenant that also served as the Athletic Director for many years at the Menriv Weapons Station.  She also raised three sons, Rick, David, and Tim that not only blessed her with three daughter in laws, (Jeanne, Nina, and Sandy) but adorned her with four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  

Betty Jo especially enjoyed her time spent with her dogs, Prince, Brute, Bam-Bam, and Bear, along with her grand-pets, Sammy, Ginger, Dillenger, Sassy, Bruno, Brooklyn, and Little-bit (cat). 

Surviving are her three sons, Richard Burgsteiner (Wife Sandy) of Rivers Falls, Wisconsin; David Burgsteiner (Fiancé Angie) and Tim Burgsteiner (Wife Nina), both of Goose Creek, South Carolina; one Sister in Law, Ruby Boxxe of Pooler, Georgia; four grandchildren Kelli (Husband Trey –Deceased), Travis (Wife Sarah), Dustin (Wife Bess), Kristen (Husband Christopher) and six great grandchildren (Nick, Cameron, Nila, Cole, Josh, and Jayce).

The family would like to thank the caregivers (Stevie, Karen, Beth, and Laura) along with the nurses and staff at Heartland Hospice of Charleston for their outstanding care and compassion as she battled Alzheimer’s.
