Obituary of Vincent James Verdolini

Vincent James Verdolini, II MT. PLEASANT – Vincent James Verdolini, II age 86 of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11 am aboard the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point. Mr. Verdolini was the son of Vincent James Verdolini and Lillian Verdolini of Easton, Pa. He was preceded in death by his brother Steven Verdolini. During World War II he served his country in the United States Navy as a Radioman RM2. His tours of duty included: U.S.S. Guadalcanal CVE 60, Atlantic, The U.S.S. Randolph CV15 (Plankowner), Pacific, The U.S. S. F. D. Roosevelt CVA42 post WWII, Med. The U.S.S. Mindoro CVE120 post WWII, The U.S.S. Sitkoh Bay CVE86 Korean War, Pacific. He worked for DuPont for 31years. In retirement, he volunteered on the U.S.S. Yorktown as a tour guide for 16 years. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sara Jane Verdolini, sons Vincent James Verdolini, III of Boise Idaho, Michael Ralph Verdolini of Charleston, daughter Susan Sheats and son-in-law James Sheats of Arlington, Va. Grandsons James Michael Sheats and Steven Zachary Sheats of Arlington, Va., daughter Sally Jane Verdolini, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, his brother Ralph Verdolini, sister, Lillian Scampini and half brothers Roy and Richard Runyon. Memorials may be made to Pet Helpers of Charleston at pethelpers.org or to the U.S.S.
