Obituary of Ricky Don Jones

Rick Jones of North Charleston, SC, died on October 25, 2017 at Roper St Francis Hospital after a long hard fought battle with cancer. He was 61. Born and raised in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma he joined the Navy in 1976, where he spent nearly 10 years serving in the submarine nuclear power program. Following his military service, he settled in Charleston. Rick spent 30 years working within the defense industry supporting and focusing on best methods to improve maintainability, reliability, safety, and serviceability of equipment within cost constrained budgets. He was the President and CEO of Amee Bay LLC since its inception in 2006. Under his leadership, the company grew from a start-up business to a company which employs over 150 personnel in locations around the country including Anchorage & Wasilla, AK., San Diego, CA., Philadelphia, PA., Norfolk, VA., Mayport, FL., and Charleston, SC. Rick also served for four years on the Board of Directors at Coosaw Creek where he strived to achieve improvements within the community. He was well known as an avid golfer, staunch Oklahoma University and Dallas Cowboys fan. Rick was preceded in death by his father Don Jones. He is survived by an extensive family including his mother Joyce Jones, wife Maggie Jones, Sister Vicki Jones, Brothers Joe Whitbeck, Todd Whitbeck , and Dwayne Loveless, daughter Kate Hogan, grandson Rudy Yates. A Celebration of Life Service will be held November 3, 2017 at 12 pm at Coosaw Creek Country Club, 4110 Club Course Drive, North Charleston. n lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Rick to Colon Cancer Research at Hollings Cancer Center.
