Michael Duncan

Obituary of Michael Duncan

Last Sunday morning, the world got a little bit smaller and dimmer when Michael “Mike” Duncan passed away at Roper Hospital, downtown Charleston, SC. Mike was born to Barbara and Phil Duncan in Washington, D.C., raised in northern Virginia during the sixties and seventies along with his loving brother Jeff. After graduation from H.S. in Fairfax he went on to earn a degree from the University of Virginia. Next, he followed in the footsteps of his Father working in sales with the Kimberly Clark Corporation. Mike inherited his mother’s desire to read and consume all that was possible in the area of history, politics and government of humanity. Sports, arts and music were always of great interest also, as were people. He enjoyed a close loving relationship with any and all family members and a positive/robust attitude regarding happiness and a bright future. His children and granddaughters Haven, Olivia and Vivienne were the light of his life. As Mike battled numerous health issues, he continued to work and was proud to be a part of Palmetto Goodwill’s computer team on Rivers Ave. Mike is survived by his children Michael Jr., Victoria and Carrie; wife Stephanie and step children Jennifer and Robert; granddaughters, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and his very special brother Jeff and his wife Kathy. On behalf of all who have thought and prayed for Michael it has been very much appreciated and most helpful in his long, difficult health battles. A private ceremony was held Sunday evening. Mike loved food. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Meals on Wheels, Charleston Area Senior Citizens, 259 Meeting Street, Charleston S.C. 29401 or online at http://charlestonareaseniors.com
