Obituary of James Russell Tackett

Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation 7475 Peppermill Parkway North Charleston, SC 29418 Obituary for James Russell Tackett James “Jim” Russell Tackett, 70, of Round O, South Carolina went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2017 at his home in Round O, South Carolina. He was born on June 1, 1947 in Brownstown, Illinois to the late Glen Oliver “Skinny” and Margaret Rosemary “Peg” (Rush) Tackett. A man of strong Christian Values, and active in his church, he was generous to a fault. Jim even started the “Jesus Apprentice Program” at Bethlehem Baptist Church and visited Honduras as a volunteer for 15 consecutive years. Jim was a master carpenter and remodeler. He also spent time as an Iron Worker and even worked as a private contractor erecting highway signs. He was most proud of his work on the 10th floor renovation of the MUSC School of Medicine. When he was not supervising and teaching his skills to others as a Construction Superintendent, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. Jim mostly enjoyed time with his family. Any time that they could be together were treasured by him. He will be missed by those he loved and those that loved him. Jim is survived by his wife and soulmate: Karen (Parker) Tackett of Round O, SC, children: Misty Tackett Carson (Carl) of Moncks Corner, SC, James Bryan Tackett (Tiffany) of Round O, SC, David Robert Tackett of Summerville, SC and Steven Earl Hillard of Columbia, SC, grandchildren: Chelsea, David, Kevon, Micah, Jamez, Addy, Cason, Sa’mya and Malaysha, and a great grandchild, Zane. Jim also leaves behind a sister: Roseanna Pruett of Warrensburg IL, a brother: Dave Douglas Tackett (Donna) of Vandalia IL and numerous nieces and nephews that will treasure his memory. The family will receive friends at Crossroads Community Church, 505 Gahagan Rd, Summerville, SC 29485 on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5 PM until 6 PM. A celebration of Jim’s life will follow the family visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Program in care of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 12898 Round O Rd, Round O, SC 29474.
