Obituary of Bobby Lawrence Henderson

Bobby Lawrence (Larry) Henderson, 62, from Summerville, South Carolina, passed away July 15th, 2017 at his home in Lexington. Larry was born on December 24, 1954 to Bobby and Betty (Brownlee) Henderson in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1974 and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years, Larry served as a young men’s leader for his congregation. Many people remember him fondly as a basketball coach and Boy Scout leader. Throughout his life, Larry worked as a warehouseman for several companies, one of which was Wetterau Foods where he worked for 20 years. He remained a devout Gamecocks Football fan despite many terrible seasons. The thing Larry was most remembered for was his sense of humor. He had the ability to lighten the mood of those around him by sharing funny stories and experiences. Larry also loved talking about his 8 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Carolyn Henderson of Summerville, son Kit Baker (Kathy) of Clearfield, Utah, son Matthew Henderson (Sheri) of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and daughter Marion Henderson Sellers (Mike) of Summerville. He also leaves behind his brother Rusty Henderson of West Ashley, sister Amanda McQueeney of Mt. Pleasant and sister Julie Lane of West Ashley. His grandchildren are Levi, Connor, Lydia, Keegan, Briggs, Chloe, Katelyn, and Karson. Larry is predeceased in death by his mother Betty Henderson Fernander and father Bobby E. Henderson. A memorial service for Larry will be held on Friday, July 21st at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2100 Bacons Bridge Rd in Summerville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Larry’s memory to the American Heart Association.
