Obituary of James (Jim) Hemenway

Jim Hemenway, 76, of Summerville, SC passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020.  He was born on August 12, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late William and Aline (Taylor) Hemenway.

 

Jim was a graduate of Boonville High and joined the Army in October 1961.  He served for three years in Germany.  He received the following medals during his service:  Driver and Mechanics Badge with Driver with BAR (track vehicles); Marksman Rifle M-14 and Good Conduct Medal.  Jim was a heavy equipment mechanic with multiple companies throughout his career.  He retired in 1989 after completing a bridge project in Charleston, SC.  He later worked part time at Summerville Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his friends.

 

He is survived by his wife Angie Hemenway of Summerville, SC; sons Jeff Hemenway of Ft. Myers, FL and Jed (Valerie) Hemenway of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Justin, Austin, Olivia, Sydney and Jay Hemenway; and several nieces and nephews.  Jim is preceded in death by his parents; infant son Jay Hemenway; and sisters Beverly Krantz and Billie Gayle Williamson.

 

A memorial and celebration of life will be from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Summerville Country Club in Summerville, SC.  Simplicity of Ladson, SC is entrusted with care.
