Obituary of Michael Devaney

Michael Devaney – December 13, 1960 – March 12, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Devaney announce his passing, at home surrounded by his family, on March 12, 2018 at the age of 57.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, John & Rosemarie Devaney. Mike will be lovingly missed by his wife & best friend of 28 years Donna (nee Rohrman). They were married in Las Vegas on December 16, 1989. Surviving are his 2 greatest accomplishments, his son John and daughter Samantha along with her fiancé Geoffrey Whitaker. Also surviving are his loyal & faithful companion bulldog Spike & his cooking rival, mother-in-law, Lucille Barile. He is survived by 7 siblings, brothers John (Kathy) Devaney, Christopher (Kelly) Devaney, Edward Devaney and Robert Devaney. Sisters Rose (Walter) Bartkus, Sharon (Michael) Avoletta, and Patricia Schultz. Mike was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his best bud Dan Madonna and cousins Lance Lange and Johnny McLaughlin. Also surviving are many friends, cousins, nieces & nephews.

Raised in Weehawken, NJ, he spent most of his adult life in Brick, NJ where he raised his children before moving to Summerville, SC, 5 years ago. He was a professional truck driver all of his life with a spotless driving record, most recently enjoying his job at Blue Max Trucking in Summerville. He loved spending time cooking for his family and friends. His story telling, sense of humor and memory will be missed by all who knew him. But mostly, he loved his family and was the best dad, husband, brother, son-in-law, friend, cousin, uncle, neighbor, drinking partner anyone could ever have hoped to have. We were so blessed to have him in our lives and will miss him every day.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at The Dubliner Pub, 96 River St, Hoboken, NJ from 1:00pm-3:00pm. All who shared in the joy of knowing him are invited to attend and encouraged to share stories over some drinks and snacks.
