Obituary of Eugene Ralph Perry

Eugene “Gene” Ralph Perry, 55 years old, of Ladson, SC, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017. The memorial service will be held April 5, 2017, from 6pm-8pm at Simplicity Funeral Home. Gene was born in Oneonta, NY, November 7,1961. The son of Eugene and Esther Perry. Gene is survived by his partner of 25 years, Stephen Vitale, sisters Cheryl Schmidt & Donna Fogharty, 6 nieces & nephews: Deonna-Rae Obergefell, Adam Widner, Justin Obergefell, Christopher McCall, Bethany McCall, and Brian Schmidt, 7 great nieces & nephews: Zachary Perry, Haylee Perry, Nathaniel Perry, Rhylee Perry, Nataleigh Perry, Kayleigh-Rae Perry, and Taten Schmidt. Gene is also survived by his long time friend Robin Nelson, his Goddaughter, Raychel Mills, his special aunts: Aunt Peg & Aunt Jo, & his Uncle Steve. Gene was an animal lover and very devoted to his dog Reggie, his cats Ethel-Mae, Mr. Fred, Murray, Emma, & Millie. Gene was employed at McDonalds in Oneonta & on Staten Island. Gene’s main restaurant career was at IHOP for 25 years as a corporate & franchisee manager and trainer, earning the coveted Trainer of the Year Award. Gene traveled all over the United States, opening and developing new IHOP restaurants. Gene had a passion for cooking and baking. He created a very successful cupcake enterprise, Confetti Cakes, A Gene Perry Creation. Gene was very loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe given to, The American Diabetes Association.
