Obituary of Sharon Taylor Browder

Sharon Taylor Browder, 71, of James Island, SC, passed away Sunday, August 23rd, at her home.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia in July 1949, Sharon graduated from James Island High School in 1967 and received a degree in Education from Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida.

She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Browder, in 1969. They lived a life of adventure and love.

Sharon was a teacher and a writer. She enjoyed sharing her writing with the writing groups at the James Island Senior Center and Main Street Books. Along with being a talented writer, Sharon was a successful dog handler with many champions and wins over the years. Over the last few years of her life, Sharon fought two battles with lymphoma with optimism, determination, and grace.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Gary Browder; children, Brian (Sunshine) Browder, Ben Browder, and Elizabeth (Nicholas) Geary; grandchildren, Ashley (Marty) Brooks, Huckleberry Browder, Kody Terry, and Max Terry; and great-grandchild, Grayson Brooks.

The service will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at 11am at Charleston Presbyterian Church 1405 Miles Dr, Charleston, SC 29407.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s name may be made to Roper St. Francis Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund at 125 Doughty St. Charleston, SC 29403 or online at www.rsfhfoundation.org/donate

Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services Summerville.
