Obituary of Joseph Daniel Galentine

Joseph Daniel Galentine, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Summerville, South Carolina, on August 11, 2020.

He was born on April 28, 1958, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Jack Vernon Galentine and Eleanor June Peebles Galentine.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his loving soul mate Deanna Jeffords and a nephew Liam Newberry. Joe is preceded in death by his loyal guide dog, Carob, who provided him friendship and service for a decade.

Joe graduated from Berkeley High School in 1976. He earned an Associate Degree from Trident Technical College. Joe retired from Santee Cooper after twenty years of service. He was a devoted son to his mother during the years between his father’s death and his mother’s as an almost constant companion.

Joe is survived by his son, Luke Galentine (Heather), and grandchildren, Ariana, Stacey and Elanor. Joe is also survived by sister Judi Galentine Jones (Jon-Mike), brother Jack Galentine (Lisa), niece, Amanda Newberry, and nephews Matthew Galentine, Patrick Galentine, Daniel Newberry, Nathaniel Galentine, Eric St John and Alec St John. He had multiple great nieces and nephews.

An informal gathering will be held to celebrate Joe’s life on a future date.
