Obituary of Kenneth Gornto

Kenneth Lionel Gornto, 55, of Hanahan, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Ken leaves behind his wife and best friend, Evelyn Jean, daughters Ashley Nicole Rains (Heather) and Amber Jean Brooks (Christopher), and granddaughter Naomi Jean; his brother,William Howard Gornto, Jr., and  sister, Mary Catherine Casteel. Born in Opelika, Alabama, Ken lived much of his life serving his country in the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service. After he retired near his favorite city, Charleston, he was a teacher at Goose Creek High School and then later became a respected leader in the SPAWAR workforce.

In his spare time, Ken loved four wheeling in his jeep and was often found enjoying the sounds of nature while hunting and fishing. He valued watching NASCAR and supported his home team, the Auburn Tigers. He could always be found enjoying his vast music selection and spending time with family or serving in his church alongside his wife.

Ken loved his wife fiercely with a love many never experience and was very proud of his daughters who followed in his footsteps and greatly respected him.
