Obituary of Ken Janis

Earl Kenneth Janis, Jr., AKA Ken Janis and “Pork Chop”, passed away on December 16 at his home with his family by his side.

Ken was a Navy Veteran and when he was home on leave from Athens, Greece, where he was stationed for 2 years, he met his Wife and the love of his life, Toni Thompson Janis.  They just celebrated their marriage of 46 years.  They had one child, Ashley Janis Perry.

He is survived by his Wife, Toni; daughter, Ashley; son-in-law, Wells Perry; granddaughter, Taylor Perry; sister Sherri Reeves; two nieces and one nephew and several Special Friends.  He lived his life for his family and made sure his family never wanted for anything!  Ken was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Grandfather (POPPY).
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Millie K Janis; niece, Jan Crosby; father-in-law, Ray Thompson; and mother-in-law, Mildred Nelson.

Ken was raised in North Charleston and graduated from Chicora High School where he was a star football player and lettered for 5 years.  This is where he got the nickname of “PORK CHOP” by his friends.

Ken loved his Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST, and talked to him on a regular basis!!  There will be a Celebration of His Life at his home in Dorchester, SC on January 16th from 3:30 - 7:00 PM; a Military Honors Presentation will take place at 4:45 PM.  We would love for his friends and family to attend.

We would like to thank Kristie Foley, his Hospice Nurse, who was wonderful,  very compassionate, and very professional to Ken and our family.     In lieu of flowers, Please send memorials to:  MSA Hospice and Home Health, 1470 Tobias Garson Blvd., Ste 107, Charleston, SC 29407
