Obituary of Chester Bernard Fischer

SFC Chester Bernard Fischer, formerly of Beaufort, SC died December 20th, 2020. He is survived by his two daughters, Naomi H. Kent and her husband Theron of Myrtle Beach, SC and Debra A. Pochie and her husband Charles of Beaufort,SC; One brother John Fischer and his wife Sue Fischer of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Fischer, his father Bernard Fischer and his mother Hazel Fischer. He was very blessed with four beautiful grandchildren and nine grandchildren. His gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all of us.

Dad was witty, Always well dressed and a gentleman above all.Very proud of his Beaufort history and of all the friends of 75 years. His dreams were realized when he returned to home as well as all of you. He loved playing golf, it was his last passion and to his group of golfing buddies, Thank you. You all gave him years of great memories with wonderful, caring friends and pride with some great exercise! 

Above all he was a soldier who loved his country and was extremely proud that he could be of service.

He was awarded:

The National Defense Service Medal;Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal: Vietnam Service Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Vietnam Cross Of Gallantry w/Palm; Army Commendation Medal; 4 Overseas Service Bars; Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Expert Badge (M-14 Rifle); Expert Badge (45 Caliber Pistol); Sharpshooter Badge (38 Caliber Pistal); Meritorious Service Medal. Before all was Carlisle Military School where he made friends for life and prepared himself for a life of service to his country.

I would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, CPN’s, counselor and chaplin of Crescent Hospice. Your help, care and support was outstanding. The unending compassion,understanding and the care he received was beyond comparison. You are all heroes.

A graveside military service will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 29th at 3:00.
