Obituary of Russell Alan Copeland

Russell Alan (Rusty) Copeland
July 7, 1955 - January 14, 2021
Rusty passed away in Charleson, SC, at the age of 65 after a long illness. He was the son of
Elizabeth Williamson and FL Copeland. He grew up in Columbia, SC, in the neighborhood of
Springwood Lake. He graduated from Spring Valley High School. He was a talented athlete,
excelling in baseball and basketball. He loved the SC Gamecocks, the Detroit Lions, and the St.
Louis Cardinals. He was a gentle soul, loved by all, and was known for his beautiful red hair.
Rusty is survived by his sister Debbie (Larry) Wald of MT Pleasant, SC, his brother Phil
(Rhonda) of Hanahan, SC, his sister Karen (Tony) Vazquez of Blythewood, SC, and numerous
nieces, nephews, a great-niece, and great-nephews.
A gathering of joyful remembrance for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
