I remember programming ForTran declaring integer to store my last name and floating point to store my first name. I did it because he told me that integer took 2 bytes and floating points took 4 bytes and you could store characters in them instead of numbers. I had lots of fun in his class and now it is my career.
RIP Mr Morse.

I'm sad to hear of Dr. Morris passing away. He was one of my first Computer Science teachers. He was also a great mentor, and I had a chance to participate in both FIRST and BEST Robotics competitions because of him. He was one of the reasons I changed my major from Aeronautical to Computer Engineering my first year in college. Rest in Peace sir, your memory lives on in all the students you impacted.

Like Charles I remember doing a little bit of hacking under Mr. Morse's tutelage back in the day... but on the previous PDP 11 system before we got the "fancy" Vax! Pretending the printer was haunted by "speaking" to students as they went to pick up their printouts... opening other terminals to send personalized messages... it was all part of the fun of learning the big computers. I remember Mr. Morse fondly as a wonderful teacher and have also made a career out of working with computers (30+ years with IBM if you can imagine). Prayers for peace and comfort for his family and friends.

Mr. Morse was my Computer Math teacher in 1988. That year, I hacked into the VAX 11/780 mainframe at Booker T by turning in an assignment to Mr. Morse that included a trojan horse I had written. I got caught of course, and the principal wanted to expel me. Mr. Morse argued that punishment was too harsh and that I should be "punished" instead by teaching his class the rest of the year, which I did. In retrospect, I see that his faith in me and willingness to go to bat for me set me on a path that led to where I am today. Who knows were I would have ended up had I been expelled? Today I have a successful career as a software engineer at Amazon, and Mr. Morse deserves a good deal of the credit. We need more teachers like him.

My sincere condolences to you the family. I was a student of Mr. Morse at HSEP/BTW class of 1991. He was so insightful and knowledgeable caring so much about our education. I went to visit him for advice and to check for years after graduation. Thank you so much for sharing him with us.

Mr. Morse was my first computer science teacher and made a very meaningful impact in my life. I did well in his class and then later studied computer science at college. I owe him a lot for guiding me along in my education journey, and what is now my career practice. We also connected outside of class where my friends and I spent time in his lab having fun hacking around. Some connections are lifelong - like Russell, I'll never forget experiencing 9/11 in his room. Thank you, Mr. Morse.

Mr. Morse started at Booker T. Washington the same year I did. He was my first Computer Science teacher who fueled my love of technology. I spent nearly every spare hour in our computer classroom and lab, whether I had class or not... always playing around with anything I could get my hands on. I credit him with starting me on the path that I have been on for the last 39 years and still going strong. I believe it was from him that I gained an appreciation that this and other things we do are not just a set of skills to learn, not just a job, but crafts to be honed and mastered. Thank you!

Mr Morse was my computer science teacher at HSEP. He was teacher sponsor when I did BEST Robotics. I was also in his class on 9/11. Mr Morse was a great teacher. He was funny, smart, and kind. It was sad when he retired, and even more so now. He impacted many kids lives, and will he missed.

Morse Family:
My sincerest condolences on the passing of Denny,
Denny was a great friend, classmate, and BHS '55 sports team mate. I was one of the fortunate "childhood friends" Denny visited in Burlington on his way to Ocean City, ME to see Dianne and Dave. We, also, communicated via phone and computer discussing similar health issues, and other things. He lived an illustrious life.
I was blessed to have been able to spend time with Denny, awhile back, when I was cordially invited to join him while visiting Dianne's daughter, Deb Binder, with Dianne, Steve, and Maggie here in The Villages FL
He was a great person, gentleman, and most of all FRIEND. May he Rest In Peace.
God Bless you all.

I am so sadden to hear about Denny's passing, but what a great life he lived! I remember visiting him and Hilda in Houston when he was a teacher at Booker T Washington. He was such a kind man. I babysat their son when he was just a few days old and I truly appreciated the trust that Hilda and he had in me to watch their child.
I have also enjoyed spotting Denny in old photos from Venezuela -- they sure looked like they had a lot of fun there!
Denny was my sister's godfather. I was always slightly jealous that she got such an amazing man as her godfather. I am grateful he was in my life. His impact on people's life is immeasurable.
May he Rest In Peace.
