Obituary of Sheryn K (Yocom) Murray

Sheryn K (Yocom) Murray, 75, of Summerville, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021.  She was born in West Lawn, PA to the late Earl C. and Stella M. (Weitzel) Yocom.  Sheryn graduated from Wilson High School, followed by Westchester School of Nursing, where she became a Registered Nurse for over 45 years, retiring from the Citadel as an Infirmary Nurse. Sheryn was a beloved member of Journey Church, where she happily volunteered.  Family also brought her immense joy and she cherished time with her children, grand and great grandchildren, as well as her siblings and extended family.  

Sheryn is survived by her children: Traci K., wife of Marcus Thurber, of Columbia, SC; and Charles G. Murray III, husband of Jena Bixby, of Puyallup, WA.; her grandchildren: Karissa K. Eaves of Saluda, SC, Rachel N., wife of Brandon Royals of West Columbia, SC; Jenna H. Eaves of Newberry, SC; Quinn E. Murray of Puyallup, WA; her great-grandchildren, Karalyn and Makenna Eaves, Tatum Royals and Alexander James. She is also survived by her sister and brother: Sandra L., wife of Kenneth Fischer of Wernersville, Pa., and brother, David R., husband of Barbara Yocom of Warrington, PA.  Sheryn is also survived by her nephews, nieces, and cousins. 

In addition to her husband, Charles G. Murray, Jr., Sheryn was predeceased by her siblings Bernard E. Yocom, Mary E. Kuser, Lousie G. Ellinger, Ruth M. Hartman, and William R. Yocom and Joyce A. Maier. 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11am at Journey Church, 355 Treeland Dr. Ladson, SC 29456.  In lieu of flowers, Sheryn’s family asks that contributions in her memory be made to Dorchester Paws: dorchesterpaws.org.
