Obituary of Wilson Hodge, Jr.

Wilson (Billy) Hodge Jr., 61, of Goose Creek, South Carolina passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday February 5, 2021.

Wilson, known, by all those who knew and loved him as Billy, was born in San Diego, California on November 5th, 1959 to Wilson Hodge Sr and the former Pearl Mae Kendrick.  Billy spent much of his younger years between San Diego and Grants Pass, Oregon.  While in Oregon Billy unfortunately, was afflicted by Bovine Tuberculosis which left him partially disabled his entire life.  As a young child he was in a full body cast from his chest to just above his knees for over a year - it never slowed him down.  His family recalls he could outrun all of them, even in the cast. He never let that deter him in anything he ever wanted to accomplish.  His family returned to Charleston, South Carolina in the late 1960s and Billie spent the remainder of his life in and around the Charleston area.  He attended Wando High School and after leaving school worked various jobs in the farming and retail industry.  He met and married his long time wife, the former Janie (Angie) Beatrice Murphy on August 15th, 1984.  Billy eventually entered his lifelong profession as a Cab Driver, a field he excelled in for over 30 years.  Billy loved to fish and spend time with his friends.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him; we are all comforted by knowing that Billy is in a better place where there is no more pain and no more suffering.

Billy is survived by his wife, Angie Hodge of North Charleston, daughter Wendy Drawbond of Chattanooga, Tennesee, three grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, and Kaitlyn.  His brothers John Murray of Summerville, SC and Myron Hodge of Anderson Creek, NC.  His sister Debra Hodge Slayton of Calumet, Michigan.  His sister-in-law, Hedy Hodge of Huger, S.C.  His nieces, Pamela Asquith and Joyce Murray of Goose Creek, SC.

Billy is predeceased by his parents Wilson and Pearl Hodge and brother Henry Allan Hodge.

The Family of Billy Hodge wishes to thank each of you for the loving compassion that you have shown during our time of need. It is indeed a blessing from God. Your kind expressions of love have strengthened our faith, helped us accept the things we could not change, and reaffirmed the fact that others shared our loss. We have been blessed with prayers, flowers, telephone calls, contributions of food, and other gestures of thoughtfulness.  Words can never express just how much you mean to us!  God Bless Each Of You.
