Laverne Clark Obituary

Laverne Clark was born July 26, 1925 to Peter & Lillian Keating in Chicago, Il. She was one of five sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, sisters Marcella Dub, Nancy Chinell, granddaughter Mary Grace Clark. She is survived by her children Barbara Judkins (Jim), Anthony Garigliano (Jeanne), Tim Clark (Julie), grandchildren Melanie Carter, Eric Darnell, Ryan Darnell, Questina Garigliano, Jack Clark, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Laverne attended the Art Institute of Chicago and went on to become a very successful and sought-after interior designer. She also owned several small businesses including Gift Shops and a Travel Agency.

Laverne lived a full and remarkable life. She overcame incredible challenges including poverty, chauvinism and a lack of opportunity for women. She was well ahead of her time & embodied strength, determination and grace.

Laverne grew up in the Chicago area but in 1971 found heaven with her husband Roy in Vero Beach, Florida. They traveled the world & had great adventures together.  Their relationship was second to none & were deeply in love until Roy passed in 2008.

She gave of herself and was a true friend to those she loved. Always willing to help, she frequently was involved with charities, fund raising events and the Vero Beach Animal Rescue League. She was also a Hospice Volunteer for 25 years, something she took great pride in.

Laverne spent the later part of her life in both Vero Beach, FL. and Mt. Pleasant, SC. At age 90, she was baptized for the second time in her life and she was a true believer. Fiercely independent and determined to live life on her terms, she lived independently until the age of 93.

She will be remembered for her elegance, intellect, sharp wit and her belief that all things are possible with God’s help. She will be missed & remembered by all who knew & loved her.
