Obituary of David Hubbard
David Stanley Hubbard, age 61, died on Feb. 20, 2021, in North Charleston, S.C., of complications from COVID-19. Born Nov. 14, 1959, he was the son of Anne Cooke Hubbard and Norman A. Hubbard. David grew up in Denver and Melbourne, FL, graduating from Melbourne High School and earning a degree in computer science and engineering from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
David’s career reflected his love for computers and aeronautics. He worked for defense contractors and technology companies in Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Virginia, Maryland and South Carolina. He helped develop Blackhawk helicopter simulation training, was a manager for the IRIDIUM Satellite System, worked on satellite TV and U.S. Navy communications security at Scientific Research Corporation in Charleston, among other jobs.
David was predeceased by his parents and sister Tina Hubbard. He is survived by his stepmother Yvonne Hubbard, sister Diane H. Burns (Robert), former wife Kathy Hubbard, daughters Elaine Thomas (Kyle), Lauren Cobb (Brandon), sons Thomas and Paul, stepson Philip Watkins, and five grandchildren. Interment will be in Melbourne, FL.
