Obituary of Ronald Tobey

Ronald "Nate" Tobey passed peacefully in his sleep in his apartment in North Charleston, SC on April 14, 2021 at the age of 32.

Nate is survived by his sister Patricia “Lynn” Pessier of Goose Creek SC, his stepbrother Bryan Tobey of North Charleston SC, his aunt Dayna Marie Spangler-Pessier and his Uncle William Pessier of Cross, SC. He is preceded in death by his Mother Patricia Gale McElvaney of Charleston SC, his brother Steven W. Pessier of Charleston SC, his grandfather and grandmother Earnest and Margie McElvaney of Charleston, SC, Aunt June Pessier of Charleston, SC and his cousin Johnny Pessier of Charleston, SC.

Nate Tobey was born on April 3rd, 1989 in Charleston, SC to Patricia Gale McElvaney. He graduated from Stratford High School in 2008, then went to study at Trident Technical College for his degree in Business Management, then continued with his study in Emergency Medical Services at Medical University of South Carolina, class of 2011. Nate began working for so many jobs in his short lifetime that it was hard to keep count of them all. Some of the major ones include: Police Cadet for Goose Creek Police Department, Emergency Medical Technician for Berkley County EMS, Office Staff/Ride Operator at Amusements of America, Patient Care Specialist at Simplicity Lowcountry and Cremations, and finally his most recent job that he loved an Armed Security Professional at International Security Agency. 

Nate was known to go out of his way to help others; whether that be a jacket off his back, a shoulder to cry on, or a sarcastic joke to help lighten your spirits.

Honoring Nate’s final wishes we will have a small service reserved for close family only. Afterwards we will have a Celebration of his Life at the International Lounge; 4624 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC 29405. The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 23rd, 2021 starting at 4:00pm which will be open to anyone who wishes to Celebrate the Life of Ronald “Nate” Tobey.
