Obituary of Elmer "Dusty" Waechter

Elmer “Dusty” Waechter, 91, of Goose Creek passed away Sunday May 2, 2021 peacefully at his home. Family and friends are invited to attend services on May 22, 2021 at 2 o’clock at the St. James United Methodist Church followed by refreshments in the outdoor pavilion. Dusty was born May 26, 1929 in Austin, Texas to parents Gustov & Mandy Waechter. Master Sergeant Waechter retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of faithful and honorary service on October 31, 1968. After retirement he was an active member of both the Texas and South Carolina Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include 3 children: Paula Elam of Goose Creek, David Waechter (Suzanne) of New Mexico, and Brian Waechter of Texas; Grandchildren: Tracy Valentine of Washington, Jason Blair (Brandy) of Tennessee, Desiree Ballesteros (Rayner) of South Carolina, Melanie Waechter (James) of North Carolina, Jeremy (Angie) Waechter of North Carolina and finally great-great Grandchildren: Aiden, Ava, and Maddox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Glynn Waechter and loving wife Margie Waechter. He and Margie celebrated 71 years of marriage with unwavering love and adoration. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to either the Goose Creek United Methodist Church or the Lions Club.
