Obituary of Bea Grindell

Bea Grindell, formerly of Findlay, Ohio, passed into eternal life in the early hours of Friday, May 7, 2021, at her home in Summerville, SC.

Mrs. Grindell was born in Findlay on August 15, 1930, to Harvey A. and Edna (Karns) Wineland. She grew up in the Findlay area and was a 1948 graduate of Rawson High School. During her teenage years, she was active in 4-H Clubs, winning many awards for her sewing and baking skills. After graduation, she attended the Singer Sewing School in Cleveland, Ohio, to train as a sewing instructor. She was employed by Beltz Clothing as a seamstress. For most of her career, she was employed as a bookkeeper at various companies in the Findlay area. She continued to do alterations and garment construction for clients well into her eighties. 

Bea accepted Christ as her Savior at summer church camp when she was fourteen years old. She served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, and choir member at various churches throughout her adult life. She had a huge heart for missions work.

She married Jack Grindell on September 8, 1950, and he survives. She is also survived by her three children, Linda (Chuck) Taylor, of Summerville, SC, Jon (Becki) Grindell, of Knoxville, TN, Ginny (Dwight) Gore, of Summerville, SC, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Retha Blankenship of Cleveland, TN, Liz Hammond of Seminole, FL, and brother-in-law, Robert Zucker of Ontario, OH, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jo Wilson, and an infant son, Michael.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Wassamassaw Baptist Church, 704 Wassamassaw Lane, Moncks Corner, SC, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the service to follow at 2:30.
